Bunty Chor found guilty of burgling NRIs house

Thiruvananthapuram: Devinder Singh Bunty of Delhi, better known as Bunty chor was Wednesday convicted of burgling the house of a non-resident Indian businessman here in 2013.

The District and Session Court found Bunty guilty of various penal offences including those under sections 437, 461 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code for burgling the NRIs fort- like house and decamping with some costly gadgets in car parked there.

After convicting Bunty, the court fixed May 22 for sentencing him after the prosecution sought enhanced jail term for the notorious criminal. The prosecution counsel argued for enhanced sentence, saying there were hundreds of cases pending against him in several courts.

As per the prosecution, Bunty had broken into NRIs house on January 21 2013 after disabling the high-tech security systems like intruder alarm.

After lifting a laptop and some other costly gadgets, he had decamped in a luxury car parked in the house.

Bunty enjoyed the status of a skilled conman and even had brief stint in a a television reality show some time back. He was arrested by Kerala police from Pune after he gave them the slip.
