Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance court Tuesday flayed Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas for delay in ordering probe against the ministers.

“The Vigilance Director ordered probe only after petitioners approached the court. This is wrong practice,” the court observed while hearing a graft case, in which a quick verification was ordered by the Vigilance against Minister Mercykutty Amma.

The court also directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to submit its preliminary inquiry report in the cashew import graft charges by February 17.

On Monday, the vigilance and anti-corruption department had ordered a quick verification probe against fisheries and cashew industries minister J. Mercykutty Amma over charges of corruption.
