Thiruvananthapuram: One lensman sustained injuries alongside protesters and the police as the Youth Congress-KSU march to the secretariat turned violent.

The march was called for demanding probe into the clashes in the University College days ago.

Raising the same demand, KSU state president K. M. Abhijith and others are staging a hunger strike in front of the secretariat.

Police resorted to lathi charge, grenade and tear gas, to disperse violent protesters who pelted tones at the police.

Police first used water cannons but of no avail, and when the protesters raised heckles of police by throwing stones at them, police didn’t wait to use lathi, subsequently tear gas and grenade.

In the confusion that followed many policemen and protesters sustained injuries.
