Tearful adieu to Attoor Ravi Varma

Thrissur: People from all walks of life thronged to have a last look at the departed poet Atoor Ravi Varma on Sunday, as his mortal remains were kept at the Sahithya Akademi hall here.

Following this, his body was taken to his residence at Ragamalikapuram near Kottappuram before the last rites.

Culture Minister A.K. Balan, writer Sarah Joseph Sahithya Akademi president Vaisakhan, and secretary K.P. Mohanan were among those present.

The poet was cremated with state honours at Paramekkavu Shanti Ghat crematorium at Punkunnam in the afternoon.
