Thiruvananthapuram:  The Kerala government will appoint K. Mohandas, former secretary of the Union Shipping Ministry, as chairman of the 11th pay commission whose duty it would be to submit recommendations within six months for the revision of pay of employees and teachers under the state government.

The others on the panel include M K Sukumaran Nair, director of the centre for budget studies at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), and High Court advocate Ashok Mammen Cherian.

The appointment came as part of the policy to revise pay scale every five years, and this time the revised pay would come into effect from July 1.

Appointed for six months, the commission would consider 10 subjects, including studying and resolving problems faced by women, as suggested by the cabinet.
