Kasaragod:  Reporting sudden surge in infections, Kasaragod is back in the thick of fear and fight once again.

Authorities and health officials, obviously in angst, linked the spread to contact cases, after testing 10 new cases on Thursday.

Coming from initial tardiness, with cases peaking each day, the northerly district reported the last of its 178 cases as recovered on May 10.

Its entry in the COVID-19 free list lasted only 24 hours before new cases emerged, testing 4 people from Maharashtra positive.

However, the next two days went with no cases, but the third day was again a shocker.

As more people are expected from other states, authorities are aware of putting the district on alert.

District medical officer asked people to be more alert than before.

Vigilant groups and families see to it that returnees stayed indoors, the officer said.

In case of these people show any symptoms, health authorities should be alerted.
