'Qariat Zaman' takes Riyadh Season 2021 visitors back to long-past lifestyles

Riyadh: The activities of Qariat Zaman, one of the zones of Riyadh Season 2021, kicked off on Thursday, in the presence of a diverse group of families and individuals interested in arts, music and traditional lifestyles in various parts of the Kingdom.
The zone aims to revive the long-past heritage and create an atmosphere that simulates the experience of living in past times, introducing visitors to previous lifestyles and allowing them to exercise old social and economic experiences.
Qariat Zaman, located in the Granada neighbourhood, north of Riyadh, receives all segments and age groups of society. Its activities, which are specialized in highlighting the traditional Saudi life and its various elements, will last until January 2022. The zone area covers around 65,000 square meters of land, in addition to another 25,000 square meters for visitors' parking.
The zone is characterized by collecting the interests of all generations with an ancient heritage, through seating spaces decorated with lights and interactive displays that help visitors to live the old experiences with all the details that were the foundations of life during the past decades.
Qariat Zaman includes diverse sections and activities, most notably the Shops Lane that includes handicrafts such as manufacturing pottery, Al Sadu, daggers, ceramics, oud and jewellery, in addition to Al-Tayibin shops (good old shops) that offer several products, most notably old-style sweets, toys, and others.
There is also a market consisting of several old-fashioned stores, in addition to the TV Lane, which includes a theatre inspired by the general character of old theatres. The theatre which presents old concerts and theatrical performances, also shows old TV programs and cartoons, such as Adnan and Lina, The Adventures of Sinbad, Treasure Island, and others.
The Performances Lane in Qariat Zaman presents folk dances from various regions of the Kingdom. The Fun Lane contains wall-climbing activities, playing in the swing area and a big playground. The Al-Atayeb Lane offers popular dishes in a distinct heritage atmosphere.
Al-Takya Lane offers visitors the chance to sit and enjoy the exceptional winter atmosphere that is compatible with the nature of the place.
