Banagalore: A city court ordered Asianet New Network and its Kannada news channel Suvarna News 24x7 to pay a compensation of Rs 50,00,000 to actress Divya Spandana in a defamation case.
In 2013, the channel telecast two news reports about involvement of actors in spot fixing in IPL; During the telecast photographs of the actress was used wrongly suggesting she was involved in the betting scandal.
The court said that reputation is a most valuable asset of any person; it is much more valuable than any amount of money.
