Intercepted & destroyed 2 Houthi missiles: UAE

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) intercepted two Houthi ballistic missiles and destroyed them on Monday. The Emirati defence ministry informed that no casualties had happened during the operation, Reuters reported.

In a statement, the UAE defence ministry said that the debris of the intercepted ballistic missiles fell in different areas around Abu Dhabi and added that required protective measures had been taken against all aggressions from the Houthis.

The attack on UAE was the second after last week's attack on an oil depot in Abu Dhabi that killed three people, including two Indians, injured some and caused a fire next to the Abu Dhabi international airport.

Meanwhile, Houthi sponsored TV channel Al Masirah said that the armed group would announce the details of a large military operation against Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia had stated through state-owned media that a Houthi ballistic missile fell in the country's southern region. It had injured two foreigners and damaged workshops and vehicles in the area.

The Saudi-led coalition against Houthi's in Yemen had fired up airstrikes into Yemen; the coalition describes as Houthi targets. On Friday, such an airstrike killed at least 60 people at a detention camp in the northern province of Saada province of Yemen. Another 20 were killed in Sanaa on Tuesday.

It's been more than six years since a coalition has been formed against Houthis, led by Saudi Arabia. Houthis were attacking the kingdom with cross border missile and drone attacks, but last week it aimed UAE.
