Yogi threatens miscreants who protested remarks on Prophet with bulldozers

Lucknow: Bulldozers were seen on the streets of Kanpur on Saturday to storm the homes of those who had had been involved in the clash over the Prophet's statement.

On June 3 after an Islamic organization called for shop closures in the parade market protesting the controversial statements by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's about the Prophet Mohammed during a television debate, Kanpur witnessed violent clashes and stoning.

There were protests in several parts of the country on Friday, including UP, due to this issue.

Mrityunjay Kumar, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath's media advisor posted a veiled warning on Saturday, 'Remember, every Friday is followed by a Saturday'. This statement was followed by a photo of a bulldozer. A report said that the cryptic tweet implied stern action would be taken against agitators.

Arun Yadav, Haryana BJP IT in-charge on Friday tweeted, "Now Friday being stone day, Saturday should be declared as bulldozer day."

Meanwhile, the government has decided to take stern action against 'anti-socials' who took part in protests in various cities across the state on Friday during a review meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday.

More than 130 people have been taken into custody from six districts of the state in connection with Friday's violence in Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur and Lucknow.
